RCPMS FAQs

Q: Are you HIPAA Compliant?

A: RCPMS stays HIPAA compliant through continued education, internal and external audits. To ensure protecting the privacy of our patient’s personal health records by we ask for identification when a patient or patient’s parent or guardian comes to pick up copies of medical records. This guarantees only the person who the records were intended for will receive them.

Q: What Billing Software does RCPMS use?

A: RCPMS currently uses the Epic Enterprise suite of applications including:

  • Prelude Registration
  • Cadence Scheduling
  • Resolute Professional Billing
  • Epicare Ambulatory EMR

Q: I’ve seen medical billing software for sale. Can’t I do my own billing?

A: Medical billing is very cumbersome. Health plan rules vary by insurance plans and patient benefit plans. Software companies have spent millions of dollars creating billing systems that can manage the insurance needs, coding needs of both CPT and ICD.9, as well as the benefits needs. Most of the more sophisticated billing practice management systems are very costly because most are integrated with front end applications, such as scheduling, registration, and electronic medical records systems.

Q: Do you provide support for physician coding?

A: Yes, we have certified coders on staff within Patient Financial Services as well as a wealth of years of experienced billers who understand both CPT and ICD.9 coding. As coding questions arise, the central billing office responds to our physician coding needs. We also subscribe to resource doing books and other educational materials as resources.
